The patent is intended for inventions that solve technical problems through a new mechanism or product, or new processes for obtaining a product, substance or composition already known.

European route

Having the same objective as the patent above, its granting process is in charge of the European Patent Office (IEP).

A European patent may have effect in 31 contracting countries, provided that the formalities imposed by each country for its validation are complied with.

The Patent Cooperation Treaty is an international treaty that aims to simplify and unify the procedural formalities for obtaining patents in about 128 countries.

This process makes the protection less expensive and with the possibility of continuous evaluation in relation to its success or failure.

This certificate allows the holders of these patents to obtain an additional extension of the duration of the patent, with a maximum of 5 years.
